My STORY
“I write to remember and I write to forget,” says Jensey. “These songs are snapshots, polaroids, of my life.” Drawing from Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie to Johnny Cash and Nina Simone he relies on music to make sense of the world around him. With an endearing vulnerability and fiery honesty he writes of his substance abuse, recovery, redemption and his effort to “find the heart that he’s buried.” Jensey’s voice is visceral, raw and captivating. His songs are his story.
After moving to LA to pursue work as a studio drummer, he quickly realized that for him, it felt disingenuous to be involved in projects as a hired gun. Jensey wanted to craft and create honest songs.
Though he had been working 18 hour days trucking and building Hollywood production sets, the cost of LA was no longer an option. Jensey and his wife moved to unincorporated territory in Kern county. When she became pregnant and their bank account registered negative $253, he found work as a stable hand. In the muck and mountain dirt Jensey began writing the songs that he had always wanted to.
Grammy Award winning Producer Val Garay (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton), was able to capture the raw and unedited honesty Jensey desired. Stripped down, with just his voice and guitar that stand alone. Jensey is ready to tell his story.
